UFC 277: Peña vs. Nunes 2. American Airlines Center | Dallas. Main Card Pay-per-view, ESPN+, 10 p.m. ET. Julianna Peña. 11 - 4 - 0. Amanda Nunes.

Undefeated women’s mixed martial arts (MMA) star Kayla Harrison believes former training partner, Amanda Nunes, will defeat Julianna Pena to reclaim her UFC women’s bantamweight title later tonight (Sat., July 30, 2022) at UFC 277 live on ESPN+ pay-per-view (PPV)/ABC/ESPN from inside American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

A pair of titles are at stake on Saturday night in Dallas when UFC 277 hits the American Airlines Center. UFC is back in Texas with a loaded fight card set and a pair of rematches atop the marquee.

Women's bantamweight champion Julianna Pena will look to make it two wins over the consensus G.O.A.T. of women's MMA when she battles Amanda Nunes for a second straight time. Pena shocked the world with a second-round submission of Nunes in December to claim the 135-pound title.

Demetrious Johnson was the king of flyweights in the UFC for six years, dominating and outclassing every single one of the contenders available at the time. But now that he’s fighting for ONE Championship in Asia, “Mighty Mouse” has his eyes on one 125-pounder, in particular, that he believes has the best chance of replicating his feat.

“I truly felt that Deiveson Figueiredo was that guy,” Johnson told MMA Fighting ahead of UFC 277. “He’s athletic, hits hard, good jiu-jitsu. I think the only thing that he had that was lacking was just the conditioning, right? He had a hard time making that weight because he’s just a big guy. Brandon Moreno was good, great movement, good footwork. I thought it was going to be either one of those two. Kai Kara-France looks to be doing his thing. But other than that, you have [Alexandre] ‘Pantoja.’ I think Pantoja is probably the frontrunner.”

In the main event of UFC 277 on Saturday, “The Lioness” has the opportunity to all but erase the bitter taste of a loss to Julianna Peña, a loss that cost her the UFC bantamweight title, a seven-year undefeated streak, and possibly her case to be recognized unequivocally as the greatest women’s fighter of all time.

If Nunes goes out and runs through Peña as she was expected to do the first time and as she has done to so many challengers in the past, then December’s upset will be remembered as a notable blip on an otherwise unimpeachable career. If Peña wins again, suddenly one of MMA’s greatest upsets will look more like a passing of the torch to a rival that has Nunes’ number any day of the week. Suffice to say, there’s a lot more on the line in this rematch than a shiny piece of metal.
